Welcome to the ECCE Conference 2023!

The European Conference on Christian Education normally takes place every three years.
The next Conference will be in Lake Balaton, Hungary from 8 to 12 May 2023
The venue of the Conference is the SDG Conference Centre in Balatonszárszó by Lake Balaton

The title of the Conference is Deep Cries Out : growing through crisis to reignite children’s ministry
Daily themes are:
Sing in the darkness
Rest and trust through the storm
Cast your nets on the other side

Who is the ECCE conference for and what does it involve?
ECCE conference is for all who work in children´s ministry and/or coordinate this work in the Church.
The main language of the Conference is English. In addition to Bible studies and other activities, there are two lectures on the theme. One lecture will be held in English and notes will be provided in German and French as well. The other lecture will be in Hungarian but notes will be provided in English, German and French.
There will also be a choice of workshops at the Conference. The workshops will also mostly be in English and, where this is not the case, notes will be provided in English. The workshops offered will be shared at the beginning of the conference and delegates will be able to choose which of the workshops they wish to join.
Delegates will also be encouraged to set up a stall in our marketplace to show a little about the children’s ministry carried out in their country, to share their resources (either to look at or to take away) etc. Please think and talk with others about what you might choose to bring.
Worship takes place daily and the delegates from each of the five regions are asked to contribute a short act of worship to the programme. Time will be given for you to plan together.

Workshop leaders
The steering group would like to encourage delegates to volunteer to lead a workshop if they have an area of interest or expertise that they would be willing to share or explore with others. Workshops last 45 minutes or 90 minutes. Workshops tend to be more practical / interactive and more informal than lectures and are done with a smaller group of interested participants. On request a screen can be made available for powerpoint/video etc. but you will need to bring any resources with you.

If you feel able to lead a workshop, please say so on your registration form and we will send you a link to second form where you can give us more information. The ECCE Steering Group will make the final decision on which workshops are included in the programme.

Conference fees and accommodation
Please note that there’s a limited number of rooms available at the venue.
We strongly recommend sharing a room so we’ll have space for more participants. Accommodation will be booked as you register and once the available accommodation at the venue is fully booked we will let you know to enable you independently to book accommodation nearby and pay a day visitor conference fee.
Due to the current economic climate in Hungary, with inflation at high rate and unpredictable, we have increased the conference fees to cover any unforseen increases in cost between now and next May. Hopefully we will be able to return any surplus to you at the beginning of the conference.

Conference fee including accommodation and meals:
Single room: 500 €
Shared room: 350 €
Day delegate: 250 €
Please notice that the travel costs are not included in the price – delegates are responsible for their own travel costs. However, transport will be provided between Budapest Airport and the venue – times of the shuttle bus to be confirmed nearer the time.
